It's designed to cope with fire and other calamities on land, at sea and from the air. During a fire on Catalina island, several members of a girl scout troop and accompanying 'adults' managed to get lost and panic hysterically. Dunnigan's team goes in and finds most of the girls. Refusing to leave one behind, Dunnigan deliberately misses the helicopter extraction window and gets trapped by a crushing tree on fire.
